Nature Care is an introductory Outdoor School program for children ages 1-4 located right in the heart of Port Elgin, Ontario. While children in this age bracket are young for a traditional forest kindergarten approach, since there are naps and diapers in the equation, they can still participate in the outdoor learning philosophy and reap the full benefits of natural immersion.
Nature Care participants enjoy exploratory outdoor play every morning, only going indoors during this period if the temperature drops below -26 degrees C. or in the event of a severe thunder storm. The children then move indoors for lunch and naptime. When everyone is awake again, we head outdoors until the end of the school day!
We believe children should spend as much time as possible outdoors during every school day, rain or shine!
